We are rapidly moving towards the end of June and what a fishing month - a northern pike reported as big as 46.5" & a walleye 29.5" with untold numbers of northerns in the 40" class and walleyes in the 20-26" class. Most of the monster walleyes are being caught in 4-8 feet of water on a jig & minnow, jig & leech or (believe this or not) a jig & gulp. Northern pike - if you toss out your artificial bait no saying what will happen other than a "big one" may just take the bait. We have entered "post-spawn" with the female walleyes back on the bite and, as a result, anglers are catching bigger fish. Weather has turned to warm, semi-sunny days with temps in the mid-70's during the day and lower 50's at night. All in all not a bad time to be in "paradise" enjoying some fantastic fishing, pleasant temperatures and leaving behind that big city angst. Come on up - the fishing and friendship are beckoning.

Here we are in the middle of August 2009 and it is raining. And, it has been raining for "forty days and forty nights" so - enough! But, the fishing has been beyond belief. Within the past two days we have had reports of a 45.5" northern pike on Bear Paw Lake and a 30.5" walleye on Dead Dog. If you want to talk with the anglers call on Mike McGregor for the northern experience and Tom Kiefner for the walleye experience. And, these have not been isolated instances of big fish. Nathan Koury nailed a 27.5" lake trout on Seagraves Lake three days ago, and the list goes on. One very profound observation: fish do not care if it is raining. When they are hungry they need to eat and that is what they are doing RIGHT NOW - eating and feeding for the coming winter. A hint - if you can make that last minute decision - come visit us here at KaBeeLo. It may be wet but it will offer some fine, fine fishing.
